United Way Game Day w/ Lethbridge Bulls
July 3, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm $9 - $19
United Way and the Lethbridge Bulls Baseball Club are teaming up for a home run to support the community.
July 3, 2017 is United Way Game Day at Spitz Stadium and the Lethbridge Bulls have ensured that United Way supporters and partner agencies get to join in the fun.
On Wednesday, June 21, United Way’s Community Development Coordinator Stephanie Wierl along with Bulls Marketing Director Torey Scott, a handful of players, and Bulls mascot T-Bone, headed out to deliver ticket vouchers to several of United Way’s partner agencies.
“It was a really fun way to start United Way’s relationship with the Bulls,” said Wierl. “We had a great afternoon meeting up with people and introducing them to some of Lethbridge’s sports celebrities and of course, extending that invitation to come out to the game with us.”
Bulls Marketing Director, Torey Scott said that the team is happy to support local organizations and groups as often as they can.
“We visited a lot of places the other day that are doing great work to help people and while knew of several of them, there were a few that were new to us,” he said. “It’s nice that United Way has those connections and can reach a bit further into the community to give people the chance to come out and see us play.”
In addition to welcoming 300 guests to the July 3 game, United Way will also be hosting a raffle for a Chicago Cubs jersey donated by Darren Malchow and family and a Lethbridge Bulls Prize Pack.
“Darren approached us with the donation last fall,” said United Way executive director Trudy Carrels. “Since then, we’ve really been looking forward to connecting with the Bulls. The Malchow family has been amazing and we’re very thankful for the role they play in building a stronger community and happy to recognize their generosity to United Way.”
United Way supports local programs for people and families in the areas of poverty reduction, building healthy families and strong, inclusive communities, and helping children and youth be all they can be. Programs funded by United Way help over 20,000 people in Lethbridge and South Western Alberta each year.
