Dinner and a Movie Presents:
Ancient Voices, Modern World: Colombia & Amazon
The Southern Alberta Ethnic Association (SAEA) and Educational Media Workshop (EMW) are partnering to present a new program: Dinner and a Movie. This is a film series accompanies SAEA’s the monthly, globally-themed dinner program on the last Friday of each month at the SAEA located at 421 6 Ave South.
The theme for the dinner on February 24 is “A Taste of Colombia” at SAEA. Take-out dinner is available at 5:30 pm and sit-down dinner begins at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $15 for Adults and $8 for Children 5-12 years of age. Dinner is followed by a Latin Party until 1:00 am. Visit http://saea.ca/events/2017/02/a-taste-of-colombia/ or call (403) 320-1577.
In a separate viewing room, EMW’s feature documentary for this month is “Ancient Voices, Modern World: Colombia & Amazon” and will begin at 5:00 pm. This documentary features Harvard-educated, Canadian anthropologist and explorer Wade Davis on his journey into the heart of war-torn Colombia to visit one of the indigenous groups that call themselves the Elder Brothers. These extraordinary people claim to be the last descendants the Tairona, and to speak with their voice.
This acclaimed documentary was produced in 2010 and runs 50 minutes. There is no charge to attend the movie screening in the SAEA. For all ages.
