Recycling Roundup

June 10, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

As part of Lethbridge Environment Week, London Drugs is hosting a city-wide Recycling Roundup to provide residents with an opportunity to recycle household items that are either at the end of their usable life or that can be donated and reused by local charities. The event aims to divert thousands of pounds of waste from city landfills.

London Drugs is joined by Kidseat Recyclers, National Salvage, GEEP, HP, More for Less Thrift Stores and Peak Support Services to accept items for responsible recycling. Waste Management will be accepting items at the end of their usable life that cannot be recycled.

Lethbridge residents are encouraged to drop off any of the following items at London Drugs (Centre Village Mall) parking lot on Saturday, June 10th from 10am until 2pm.

For Recycling:

“Last year, the community helped divert so much waste at this event. We think this year will be even bigger,” says Chris Mabie, Store Manager at the Lethbridge London Drugs. “Making recycling accessible is important to us because we know our customers are our greatest ally in the war on waste. We are proud to work together to collectively reduce our environmental impact.”

Waste diversion and recycling have been at the center of London Drugs’ daily operations for decades. Since the launch of the ‘What’s the Green Deal?’ program in 2008, waste disposal has been tracked at all stores. Last year, the continuous sustainability efforts of the chain’s 79 stores resulted in 92.8% waste diversion, totaling 12.5 million pounds of waste diverted from city landfills across Canada.

Everyday, customers can bring items to London Drugs for recycling including: electronics, small appliances, Styrofoam, plastic and cardboard packaging, cell phones, PDA and rechargeable batteries, alkaline batteries, Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (CFL’s), ink cartridges, plastic bags and much more.
