Pie It Forward
June 12 - June 16 $20
Southern Alberta Individualized Planning Association (SAIPA) is excited to launch Pie It Forward, a signature fundraising campaign that will send pies flying around the city June 12 to 16.
“We hope this is an initiative the entire community can enjoy,” says executive director Sharon Rempel. “It’s a fun way to tease the people in your life while supporting the important work that we do.”
This light-hearted event that allows people to send a pie to be (gently) thrown in their friends, family members, co-workers, friendly competitors or spouses’ face. Community members donate a minimum $20 to SAIPA to send a pie as a friendly “pie in the face” gesture. Volunteers drive the pie to recipient, and let them know that they have been “pie’d”. The recipient has several options to keep the event fun and friendly.
Order forms are available online at www.saipa.info/pieitforward or in office at 210, 410 Stafford Drive South. All orders must be submitted by June 5.
Funds raised will assist SAIPA to further enhance its self-advocacy workshops, which have continued to grow in demand year after year. Course topics include rights, healthy relationships, self-esteem and abuse prevention. These workshops are crucial to giving adults with disabilities the skills to be safe, self-determined leaders in their own lives. SAIPA teaches 30 workshops per year in Alberta’s south region.
