Pharis & Jason Romero

September 28, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Canadian folk duo Pharis and Jason Romero are opening the 2017 – 2018 Centre Stage Concert Series at the Empress Theatre

Known for their soaring vocal duets and simple acoustic guitar and banjo arrangements, the pair won the 2016 Juno Award for Traditional Roots Album for their album A Wanderer I’ll Stay. Pharis also won the 2016 Canadian Western Music Award for Best Songwriter for the album.

The Romeros have released five records – three as a duo – and toured across North America and the UK. Now raising a family in the small community of Horsefly in British Columbia’s Cariboo Mountains, and building a custom handmade banjo business, Pharis and Jason write and perform original songs while also putting their recognizable stamp on some beautiful covers.

Pharis and Jason’s performance highlights include several appearances on A Prairie Home Companion, a tour with The Vinyl Cafe, the Winnipeg, Vancouver and Edmonton Folk Music Festivals, Celtic Connections and Pickathon. Passionate teachers of folk music, they also spend much of their year instructing at music camps and workshops.

Join us for a night of traditional acoustic folk music at the Empress, on the first of our 2017 – 2018 Centre Stage Concert Series.
