Mini Chuckwagon Races
August 18 - August 19
2017 will be the 19th year of Miniature Chuckwagon Racing in Alberta
The Alberta Miniature Chuckwagon Racing Association is a group of people that are involved with horses and rodeo. Racing the miniature chuckwagons has become a fun and exciting sport. Parades and rodeos keep us busy all summer long. We have preformed for crowds all over Alberta including Vegreville, Cardston, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Cochrane and the Calgary Stampede.
The chuckwagons are one quarter the size of the professional chuckwagons. They are made of solid oak and weigh approximately 350 lbs. The wheels are made from different wheel wrights but the rest of the wagon is hand built. The horses weigh approximately 250-275 lbs and are less than 36 inches in height. Do not tell them they are little because they really believe they are race horses.
The association travels as a complete unit with drivers, barn help, horse handlers, arena and camp help. It takes a large commitment and countless hours on part of the whole unit to bring the unique form of entertainment to you. Penalties can be called for knocking over the barrels, cones and wagon interference. The #1 concern of the association is safety of the horses, drivers and helpers.
