This topic, all by itself, probably doesn’t sound that interesting. Maybe even boring. Maybe you’re rolling your eyes and thinking why in the world would Nikka Yuko host a presentation about something so dull and unimaginative as fresh cut flowers?
Very good question! Lyndon Penner promises it will not be dull. Or unimaginative. Or tedious. You might not know it to walk around Nikka Yuko (where the focus is definitely on foliage and structure and form) but the Japanese love flowers! They actually buy more fresh flowers per person than any other nationality in the world. As a result of this, Japan really sets the tone for what else is happening in the florist world globally. When it comes to the floral industry, what becomes popular in Japan quickly becomes popular everywhere else!
In this presentation he will talk a little about the Japanese flower arranging art called Ikebana, but also what flowers the Japanese are buying, what sort of impact they’ve had on the world flower supply, and also about how it can mean inspiration and ideas for your own garden!
This should be a fun and informative afternoon and the maples are often just starting to colour up around that time so he hopes to see you there!
