Historic research stations

June 4 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Admission

This will be the final presentation in the series that Lyndon Penner is doing for the museum this spring, and this one will focus on Canada’s historic research stations!

When Canada was a young nation, the government went to some significant lengths to employ scientists and botanists to breed and develop hardy trees, shrubs, and ornamentals that would not only thrive in our climate, but would make our neighbourhoods  beautiful and more enjoyable.

Many plants from these breeding programs are now grown and respected in cold countries around the world! Come and learn about the history and legacy of Canada’s brightest botanical scientists!
