Iconic Martin Luther King III and Legendary Mark Messier to Inspire Greatness at 3rd Greatness in Leadership Event, March 7.
Guests at the third Greatness in Leadership “Inspiring Greatness” Management Development Day in Lethbridge will be inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous words to be difference makers and celebrate milestones as headliners Global Humanitarian Martin Luther King III and six-time Stanley Cup Champion and Hockey Hall of Fame Inductee Mark Messier will visit Lethbridge.
The one-day management development day, hosted by Teamworks Training Institute, Select People Solutions, and the ENMAX Centre, takes place on Tuesday, March 7 at the ENMAX Centre. This event has become the largest gathering of business, community and future leaders in southern Alberta and has consistently sold out since inception.
“This year’s keynote speakers are legendary and are known internationally for inspiring leadership spurred on by hope, vision, spirit and dreams. Each speaker is a difference maker: individuals that dream, persevere, think innovatively and go beyond conventional beliefs. They represent the spirit that builds communities and it is important that this year’s Greatness in Leadership celebrate that spirit,“ Teamwork Training Ltd.’s President & CEO Ryan Miller said. “We are celebrating the great spirit that built our community and commemorating milestones in our own community; milestones that would not be able to be celebrated were it not for the great leadership shown by people that had a dream for Lethbridge. These difference makers, many still amongst us, also symbolize the great spirit that has Canada celebrating its 150th.”
“This year is Teamworks’ 25th Anniversary and being part of the community for a quarter of a century has made celebrating the spirit of a great community even more important for us.” Greatness in Leadership consistently brings a roster of internationally-respected business leaders. “I think today’s announcement is another extraordinary example of bringing world class knowledge to southern Alberta.”
In addition to Martin Luther King III and Mark Messier, Miller said the roster includes business speakers whose expertise brings best practices and challenges us to have high dreams, lead with vision and engage our people, themes that are specifically intended to resonate with a diverse cross section of the southern Alberta business community.
“Ty Bennett, a leadership expert and bestselling author, is joining us to talk about how leadership is the driving force behind growing business,” Miller said.
As well Miller said that Suzanne West, recognized as one of Alberta’s most progressive visionaries and fearless business leaders. Suzanne is the Founder and CEO of Imaginea Energy and is creating the oil company of the 21st century. “Sir Richard Branson has said that Suzanne conceptualized ideas about how to establish a new energy company that valued people and the planet as well as profit,” noted Miller.
“With 2017 marking numerous milestones in Lethbridge, our line up is complete only if we recognize the importance of the role everyone has in building communities. Bob Black, Executive Vice-President of Arena Corp, Chief Project Development Officer for the Oilers Entertainment Group and the man at the forefront of Rogers Place and the revitalization of Edmonton’s spirit will speak to the vision, leadership qualities, the sound judgment, passion
and persistence in the face of challenges that it took to realize a dream a decade in the making” Miller said.
“The day will include a celebration of difference makers that make Lethbridge a great place to live in, work and visit. Our own Ron Sakamoto, a Canadian Country Hall of Fame Inductee and a game changer in the country music industry will be acknowledged. Ron exemplifies the spirit of the dreamer that perseveres, works hard and incorporates honesty and integrity in leadership to not only achieve high dreams but to also make a difference,” enthuses Miller.
“This year is Teamworks’ 25th Anniversary and being part of the community for a quarter of a century has made celebrating the spirit of a great community even more important for us. We are proud to organize an event that includes over 800 business and community leaders as well as over 400 high school, college and university students who attend for free, providing them an opportunity to learn and network,” notes Miller. The event has raised
$25,000 towards student scholarships since inception.
Additional elements are planned. Details will be announced as they are confirmed, and closer to the event date.
Having this calibre of speakers in front of thousands of people in the audience at the ENMAX Centre is not unusual for general manager Kim Gallucci to experience. The facility regularly hosts high profile sports and music talent, but Gallucci, who shares Miller’s enthusiasm for the event, said the Greatness in Leadership event allows the facility to shine at a whole new level.
“This year, Greatness in Leadership celebrates Lethbridge and Canada by both bringing legends and iconic leaders to our community along with difference makers throughout the province who share stories and to have them share how they inspire greatness is thrilling. Acknowledging Ron Sakamoto is particularly special for our community. Having them all share their experiences is momentous and will create a unique memory for southern Albertans of all
ages – and we are going to make every element of that experience extraordinary for the speakers and our guests.”
