Celebrate, Investigate and Captivate!
June 24 - August 24 Free
Casa will be bursting at the seams with art this summer as three shows representing 59 artists open this weekend. DERP by Andrea Kowalchuk investigates happiness in one half of the Main Gallery. Using the internet as her research text, Kowalchuk has created paintings of the cutest denizens of the internet – animals!
Guest curators Leila Armstrong and Megan Morman bring THE CABINET OF QUEERIOSITIES IV, the fourth in a series of exhibitions celebrating LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer) history, identity, culture and pride through a similarly diverse range of subject matters and approaches. In the style of ‘wunderkammers’ or Cabinets of Curiosities, the work of 35 artists will be hung salon-style in the second half of the Main Gallery.
Throughout Casa, in the Concourse, Passage and Showcase Galleries, [email protected] captivates with the work of 23 art students and a wide collection of ephemera documenting and celebrating the University of Lethbridge’s fiftieth anniversary. All four departments in the Faculty of Fine Arts are represented – Art, Drama, Music and New Media – with videos, images, artworks, historic photos, displays and documents.
These shows will run throughout the summer until August 24.
