Once again, Associated Engineering along with Save-On-Foods will bring CANstruction® to Lethbridge, which is an exciting event that showcases our City’s abundant talent and creative power, with the added benefit of helping to feed hungry families. Additional sponsors include MPE Engineering, Stone Age Granite, Tetra Tech, KPMG, Melcor, Whissell Contracting Ltd. and Design Signs.
In this event, teams come together from various industries to build unique structures entirely out of canned food. The results are evaluated by a panel of judges in a number of categories, including Peoples Choice. When the event comes to a close, the food will be donated to Interfaith Food Bank Society of Lethbridge, Lethbridge Food Bank and Lethbridge College Food Bank to help stock the shelves and assist people in need in Lethbridge and area.
As a final element, photos of the winning projects are submitted to an international competition, where they compete with the best CANsculptures from across North America. For photos of previous contest entries, visit www.canstruction.org – there have been some pretty fantastic creations!
Bringing the competition here to Lethbridge is of great value to the local food banks that benefit from the competition. Last year’s event raised over 2000 pounds of food, which equates to over $5300 in support!
Structures will be CANstructed on Thursday, February 23rd beginning at 11am, and will be on display at Centre Village Mall during mall hours until March 22nd, deCANstruction takes place on March 23rd.
