The Government of Canada has delivered the first of two annual federal Gas Tax Fund (GTF) installments to Alberta. This funding is intended to assist communities with local infrastructure projects, including roads and bridges, recreational facilities, water and wastewater infrastructure, and others.
The first GTF installment for Alberta is $109.5 million, of which $542,419 will be allocated to Lethbridge County. This funding will be used for the following projects:
• Base stabilization project- Indian Hill Golf Course road
• Local road construction for 2017- RR 19-5 (Turin Colony Rd) between TWP Rd 10-2 and HWY 25
• Replacing water pumps (twin fire pump system) and the addition of an emergency generator at the Lethbridge Airport
“We are pleased that we are able to allocate these funds toward improving infrastructure within Lethbridge County. It is always our hope to receive more funding, so we will continue to advocate for Lethbridge County at the provincial and federal levels and ask for increased funding so we can better serve our residents and businesses,” says Reeve Lorne Hickey.
The installments are distributed in July and November each year.
