The MS Society is teeing off its 20th annual “Hit a Ball for MS” campaign and will be appearing at golf tournaments in and around Lethbridge during this year’s golf season! Through raising funds and awareness, this campaign assists Albertans living with MS by funding local programs and services, as well as national research.

In 2016, the MS Society Lethbridge & District Chapter participated in 55 club and corporate golf tournaments, raising over $28,000. For those unfamiliar with the campaign, the process behind how it works is simple. MS Society volunteers set up at a par 3 hole, and a $5 donation from the golfers gets them a package of tees with a Werther’s candy provided by Evergreen Golf Centre and J Walker Golf and automatically enters them into a draw for monthly, and grand prize packages.

This year’s draw prize sponsors are Fountain Tire, Moxie’s Classic Grill, The Movie Mill, Gas King, Galaxy Cinemas, The Great Escape Lethbridge, Cora Breakfast and Lunch, Lethbridge Country Club, IHOP Restaurant, Kenegdo Salon & Spa, Bikram Hot Yoga Lethbridge, YWCA Lethbridge, Lethbridge Hurricanes, Mr. Mikes Steakhouse Casual, Manulife Securities, Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens, Lethbridge Symphony, and Bert & Mac’s Source For Sports. As a bonus, if the golfer’s drive lands on the green, they receive a sleeve of TaylorMade golf balls courtesy of Avail LLP, Benchmark Glass & Mirror Ltd, Draffin’s Pharmasave, Dr. Tim Rollingson, J. Walker Golf, MNP LLP, and The Ohno Pearson Group.

As in the past, we are always looking for enthusiastic people who want to help volunteer and/or people who are organizing tournaments that we could attend to help accomplish our campaign. We hope to reach our goal of attending 60 tournaments this year, which provides many opportunities for local Southern-Albertan individuals, families, and business groups to help out. This rewarding opportunity will allow you to actively contribute and participate towards a great cause, and will help bring our community closer together. Your support of the MS Society touches so many lives, especially those living with this unpredictable disease, their families, friends and co–workers.

The MS Society, Lethbridge & District Chapter prides itself on the successful long-term relationships that we have with the various golf clubs, tournaments, and coordinators. We want to share the fact that you, both as a volunteer or as a tournament organizer, have the potential to be a partner in the fight against MS, and can help us win the battle against this devastating disease.
