As an affiliated Good Food Organization through Community Food Centres Canada, Interfaith Food Bank is now offering Physical Literacy programming in addition to emergency food services, cooking classes and garden programs.
FoodFit is a new program that brings low-income community members together to set goals, learn skills, and make measurable changes in overall health and fitness. The goal of the FoodFit program is to support community members to become better nourished, more active, and less socially isolated. Over 12 weeks, participants cook, learn about nutrition, and participate in physical activity.
Interfaith Food Bank is pleased to announce that Flaman Fitness and Health Care, of the Flaman Group of Companies, is supporting the FoodFit program as a “Fitness Accessories Sponsor” and has provided the program with a complete set of yoga mats, yoga blocks and resistance bands that will be used during the physical fitness portion of the program. In the attached photo, participants try out the new yoga mats generously provided by Flaman.
Several sponsorship opportunities for the FoodFit program are still available, as are sponsorship options for several other food bank programs offered in 2017. Visit www.interfaithfoodbank.ca to find more information under the “How You Can Help” section of the website.
A few spaces are still available in the current round of FREE FoodFit classes, which begin June 6, 2017. The following round of sessions will begin again in September.
