Residential Property Assessment and Tax Notices

    The 2017 Property Assessment and Tax Notices will be mailed on Wednesday, May 17 to all residential property owners in Lethbridge along with 2017 Tax Notices to owners of commercial, industrial and residential rental properties with four units or more.

    Tax and Assessment staff are ready to answer questions property owners may have regarding their notices and are available by calling 403-320-3950, emailing [email protected] or by visiting the main floor at City Hall from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays. Anyone who does not receive a 2017 Tax Notice by May 24 is advised to contact the Assessment and Taxation office to obtain a copy. Separate 2017 Assessment Notices for commercial, industrial and residential rental properties were mailed on January 5, 2017.

    Taxes are due by June 30, 2017 to avoid late payment penalties. Payments can be mailed by cheque or money order to the City of Lethbridge, 910 – 4th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 0P6. Please do not send cash by mail.

    Cash, cheques and debit cards are accepted by cashiers at City Hall on the main floor. If you have online banking, you can pay your taxes electronically using the 13-digit roll number located in the top right section of your tax notice. The City does not accept credit card payments, but tax payers may refer to the back of their tax notices for information on how to use a third-party credit card service provider to make payment for a fee.

    Property owners have the option of using our convenient monthly Tax Instalment Prepayment Plan (TIPP), which reduces your tax with a one per cent annual discount credit. Property owners whose 2017 taxes are paid in full can sign up for TIPP by July 20 to be enrolled in the program for their 2018 property taxes.
