From April 23 to 29, Volunteer Canada and Volunteer Lethbridge celebrate Canada’s 12.7 million volunteers during National Volunteer Week (NVW). This year marks the 14th year Volunteer Canada has delivered the campaign in partnership with Investors Group, a longstanding supporter of NVW and Canada’s corporate leader in volunteer recognition.

In 2016, 34 nonprofit agencies reported that 313,947.70 volunteer hours were contributed to their agencies. That is an economic value of $7,534,744.80 (based on a report by TD Economics in 2012 with $24/hour). Imagine the volunteer impact in our community. If you haven’t reported your agencies volunteer hours to Volunteer Lethbridge and you would like your totals included in this number, give Sean a call at 403-332-4320.

There are numerous ways that volunteers are involved, this week is a time to express your appreciation to volunteers that make a difference in your life. How will you recognize your volunteers during National Volunteer Week? Let us know at [email protected]

This year, Volunteer Centres across Canada are promoting the 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge. Volunteering creates a lasting legacy that transforms the lives of the people who volunteer and the people that benefit. To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Canada, we invite all Canadians to give 150 hours of your time during 2017 and give back to your community and your country by making a difference in people’s lives. Register for the Challenge by signing in to our 150 for 150 on-line platform and mobile app provided by Volinspire and share your volunteer stories, track your volunteer hours, create your volunteer profile and hear about what others across the country are doing to meet the Challenge.

    Register here: https://volunteer150for150.ca/sign-in/

City Hall will be lit up in celebration of National Volunteer Week; the Volunteer Lethbridge flag will fly at City Hall and we look forward to celebrating with the 141 nominees at the annual Leaders of Tomorrow event.

Involved Canadians build strong and connected communities to create a vibrant Canada. To learn about the diverse volunteer opportunities for numerous organizations in our community check out the Volunteer Lethbridge website at http://volunteerlethbridge.com/member-agencies/

You can become involved, it may be one of the best experiences you have.
