United Way is once again inviting human service organizations in Lethbridge and South Western Alberta to apply for funding to support programs for people and families in the 2017-2018 year.
Proposed programs will align with United Ways vision of alleviating poverty; building healthy, inclusive communities, or promoting positive child and youth development.
Over the past three years, United Way has provided grants to 29 different organizations in the area. Collectively, the programs funded by United Way and its community donors help over 20,000 people each year.
Each year, a team of community volunteers assists with the evaluation and review process to ensure that donors’ dollars are invested where they will have the greatest impact and address the most urgent needs.
Organizations wishing to apply for funds can find forms and further information at www.lethbridgeunitedway.ca . The deadline to apply is March 31, 2017. Community members interested in taking part in the evaluation process can contact United Way at 403-327-1700 for more information, or submit a volunteer application on United Way’s website.
United Way of Lethbridge and South Western Alberta is one of over 100 locally operating United Ways across Canada. We work to identify the causes of the most significant local issues and develop strategies to address them. We pull together the financial aid and human resources the community needs to improve the day-to-day life of individuals and families.
Since 1941, United Way (Community Chest as it was known back then) has maintained that collective action is the best way to improving people’s lives, en-masse and long term. Our vision is for communities where everyone works as a team to make sure poverty is temporary, individuals and families live healthy lifestyles and children have the tools they need to reach their full potential.
